    Stephen Kraus is Chief of Insights for SimilarWeb.  In this role, he synthesizes data from SimilarWeb’s industry-leading databases of digital activity, and distills the data into actionable insights about consumer behavior and business opportunities.  With a two-decade track record of thought leadership, Steve is recognized as one of the world’s leading authorities on consumer insights and digital trends.   Steve has written dozens of articles and three books on consumer insights and business success. The New Elite: Inside the Minds of the Truly Wealthy was called “indispensable to marketers” by Publisher’s Weekly, and Booklist described it as “great reading, even better inspiration for millionaires-to-be.”  His next book – Selling to the New Elite – also earned rave reviews for its exploration of passion as the core principle underlying sales excellence, wealth accumulation, and the world’s most successful luxury brands.  His insights are widely quoted in the media, and he was a regular on-air contributor to CNBC’s The Filthy Rich Guide, a fast-paced docu-series exploring how the top 0.01% spend their money. A widely sought-after speaker, Steve is a veteran of hundreds of presentations at conferences and client events.  Prior to SimilarWeb, he ran several industry-leading research studies, including The Ipsos Affluent Survey (tracking financially successful Americans for more than 40 years), the Yankelovich Monitor (well-known study of consumer values and lifestyle trends), and Women, Power & Money (a multi-wave global study of the marketplace impact of women). Steve received his PhD in social psychology from Harvard University, where he twice won Harvard’s award for teaching excellence.  His dissertation research on the relationship between attitudes and behavior was cited in psychology textbooks.  He later taught psychology and research methods at his alma mater, the University of Florida.  Steve lives in the ocean-side paradise of Pacifica, just south of San Francisco with his 13-year-old son.
